New Mexico, February - March 2006
On Friday (3/10), a few of us from work went to a restaurant near our hotel
called Gabriel's.  My birthday was the weekend before, so I was treated to flan.
From left to right: Carol Collins (Richland, WA), Ben Glover, (Frederick, MD),
Candice Dermody (Savannah River, GA), Tanna Van Wey (Richland, WA),
Cheryl Miller (San Francicso, CA), Christa Wingfield (Savannah River, GA), and
Lesli Milikien (San Diego, CA).
I woke up Sunday (3/12) morning to find about four inches of snow on the
ground.
The snow started to melt by the afternoon, so I took off to Albuquerque to see
the National Atomic Museum.
The friendly tour guide gave a very detailed history of atomic energy.  He is
standing next to a life-size replica of Fatman, the nuclear bomb dropped over
Nagasaki.
This is a life-size replica of Little Boy, the nuclear bomb dropped over
Hiroshima.
This is an unused Trident I missile.  It is launched from a submarine, flies up
into space, and then down to its target.  The missile is in five parts: the three
pieces in the distance are the rocket boosters, the next piece is the guidance
system, and the closest piece contained the warhead.
This is a picture of the sun setting and the moon rising.
